Getting in touch
For anything about the app, write to contact@hanghere.app. We read every message and reply within a few days. If something went wrong, tell us what you were doing, which book you were reading, and your iPhone model and iOS version, and we can usually find it quickly. If you are testing through TestFlight, the feedback button in the TestFlight app reaches us too.
What do I need to run it?
An iPhone running iOS 26 or later. The app is designed for the iPhone in portrait.
Which books are included?
Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Little Women and The Great Gatsby, in the Standard Ebooks editions. All are in the public domain. A few further titles are offered only in the countries where they are in the public domain, so Search may show a different list depending on where you are. The bookclub’s Book of the Month changes each month and appears at the top of the Feed.
How do I turn the page?
Swipe up for the next page and down for the previous one. Each page begins with the last line of the page before, so you can see exactly where you left off. Double tap the text, or spread two fingers, to hide the controls; double tap, pinch or tap the small button at the bottom right to bring them back.
How do I change the text size, spacing or background?
Tap the menu button at the top right of the Book tab. You can set the text size, line spacing, font and contrast, choose one of the photo themes, pick a photo of your own, or switch to a plain light or dark page. Your place in the book is kept in the text itself, so a change of size never loses your line.
How do highlights and notes work?
Tap the edit button at the bottom right of the page to enter edit mode. Tap a word, or tap and drag across a passage, then choose a highlight colour, add a note, or add a photo with the camera. Tap Save Changes. Your highlights are listed under Markups in the chapters sheet, which opens from the button at the bottom left, and each one also appears as a post on your Feed. Tap either to jump back to the passage. Leave edit mode to turn the page again.
How does the reading streak work?
Read five pages in a day and the day counts. The day changes at midnight in your time zone. A daily reminder is off until you turn it on under Profile, and you can turn it off there at any time.
Why does the app ask to use the camera?
Only to attach a photo to a highlight, and only after you allow it. Photos stay on your iPhone. You can change the permission later under Settings, Apps, Hang Here.
Where is my data kept?
On your iPhone. There are no accounts and nothing is sent to us, so your reading place, highlights, notes, photos and streak live only on your device, and deleting the app deletes them. The details are in the privacy policy.
How do I remove my email address from your lists?
Reply to any email from us, or write to contact@hanghere.app, and we delete it.
